Australia have retained The Ashes after five dramatic contests, with a rain-affected draw in Manchester sealing England's fate. Despite Ben Stokes' side winning the fifth and final Test to equalise the series at 2-2, the urn remains with Australia.

Usman Khawaja notched a beautiful century in the first Test, while opposing star Joe Root was equally influential for his side despite the end result.

In the second Test, the big guns truly stood up as both Ben Stokes and Steve Smith scored hundreds in another entertaining affair.

In the most clash at Headingley, the returning Mitchell Marsh scored a powerful ton, before Ben Stokes and Harry Brook both helped the hosts to a fourth-day win.

Zak Crawley blasted a brilliant ton in the rain-affected fourth Test, but it wasn't enough to level the series.

The fifth Test was hard-fought, with Khawaja and Smith shining for Aussies while Crawley, Bairstow and Root played important knocks. But it was Chris Woakes and Moeen Ali who ended up setting up a series-equalling win for England.
