It's no secret that Sydney has a poor record when it comes to weather for their annual Test match each January.

In the history of Test cricket in Australia, the SCG has had 24 days completely washed out - triple the amount of any other ground - as well as countless other rain-affected days.

The 2023 clash between the Aussies and South Africa isn't looking like it will be any different, with rain forecast for all five days in Sydney.

Here's the full forecast for the Sydney Test, courtesy of the Bureau of Meteorology.

DAY 1: Wednesday, January 4th

The opening day of the Sydney Test saw plenty of rain and dark skies, with just 48 overs bowled.

DAY 2: Thursday, January 5th

Day two saw plenty of action, but there were still multiple rain delays throughout the day.

DAY 3: Friday, January 6th

Slightly worse forecast than Thursday, with rain still very likely around the Sydney area.

  • Maximum 25 degrees
  • 80% chance of rain
  • Between 2-15mm of rain

DAY 4: Saturday, January 7th

Slightly warmer temperatures and less chance of rain for the fourth day between Australia and South Africa.

  • Maximum 24 degrees

  • Between 0-4mm of rain

DAY 5: Sunday, January 8th

After some short matches early in the series at both The Gabba and MCG, this match looks far more likely to last the five days. The final day of play will be the best in regards to the weather, with very minimal rainfall forecast at this stage.

  • Maximum 26 degrees
