Manchester City and Manchester United face off in the first blockbuster fixture of the 2024/25 campaign, as they head to Wembley Stadium in the FA Community Shield on Saturday.

The pair of Manchester clubs battled it out at Wembley back in May during the FA Cup final, where Erik ten Hag's side were victorious against all the odds.

As United won the cup, they qualified for the Community Shield. As Man City won the Premier League, they also qualified and therefore will once again go head to head with their local rivals.

The Sporting News takes a look at how the two sides could line up.

Pep Guardiola has recently welcomed back key players who played in international tournaments over the summer.

With the Premier League opener against Chelsea just over a week away, Kevin De Bruyne, Jeremy Doku, Bernardo Silva, Manuel Akanji, Ruben Dias, Matheus Nunes, and new signing Savinho are yet to feature in any preseason matches.

Early on Saturday, hours before kickoff, it was reported by The Sun that Jack Grealish had picked up an injury and was a doubt forcing Doku into a start.

Man City starting (4-2-3-1, right to left): Ederson (GK) — Lewis, Akanji, Dias, Gvardiol — Kovacic, O’Reilly — McAtee, Bobb, Doku — Haaland.

Injured: Grealish, Rodri (unavailable)
Suspended:

Erik ten Hag's preseason could not have gone much worse for his new signing Leny Yoro, who fractured his metatarsal in United’s defeat to Arsenal during their pre-season tour of the United States.

United therefore start with Harry Maguire and Jonny Evans at the back with Lisandro Martinez on the left. Casemiro starts in midfield alongside Kobbie Mainoo.
