There are plenty of ways to describe Travis Kelce. He's a three-time Super Bowl champion, nine-time Pro Bowler, four-time First-Team All-Pro, podcaster, world traveler and, most notably as of the last year, Taylor Swift's boyfriend.

Soon, the title of "lead actor" can be added to that list.

Kelce is set to play a part in an upcoming Lionsgate movie titled "Loose Cannons," according to The Hollywood Reporter. The action comedy is set to be produced by Chad Stahelski ("John Wick"), Jason Spitz and Alex Young.

The news continues a trend of Kelce immersing himself in the Hollywood spotlight. He previously hosted "Saturday Night Live," taking part in a number of live and pre-recorded skits for the infamous NBC show. He also is set to host Amazon game show "Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity," a reboot of the classic show, "Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader. "Kelce also is acting in the upcoming Ryan Murphy FX horror show "Grotesquerie."

Here is more to know about "Loose Cannons" and Kelce's role in the movie.

What is 'Loose Cannons' about?

"Loose Cannons" is an upcoming buddy cop film by Lionsgate. Kelce reportedly is set to take the lead role in the film.

Written by Tim Dowling ("Just Go With It"), the movie is reportedly about how two unhinged cops get partnered together, taking on a case that everyone else passes over.

Here is more on the premise from The Hollywood Reporter:

The premise centers on how every police precinct, at least in this movie’s world, has a crazy, out of control, rule-breaking officer on staff. But rather than pair them with a straight arrow and by the book partner, the premise here is that unhinged person is paired with someone just as out of line as they are.

In 'Loose Cannons,' two loose cannons are forced to partner up after their precincts merge due to budget cuts and no one wants to work with them. The duo end up taking on the cases no one else can.

"Loose Cannons" is also the title of a 1990 crime film starring Gene Hackman and Dan Aykroyd. The film, directed by Bob Clark, is about a cop and a detective with multiple-personality disorder tasked with hunting down the suspect in a murder case with ties to the Nazis.

The movie is in the very early stages of details being ironed out. There is no director attached to the flick, nor any potential timeline for production to start, or a release date.

Considering the 2024 NFL season is about to get underway, it is highly unlikely that any filming won't begin until the spring of 2025, after Super Bowl LIX — where Kelce and the Chiefs are aiming to go for an unprecedented three-peat in the NFL.
