Wrexham are on the brink of promotion to League 2 after a sensational season from the Welsh side.

The Red Dragons can secure a spot in the English Football League with just one more win this campaign. They also made it to the fourth round of the FA Cup, where they were defeated by Sheffield United in a replay.

Phil Parkinson has been in charge of the team since July 2021 and managed 107 games since then, winning 70 of those for a win percentage of 65.42%. The club lost out in the playoffs last season but look destined to go all the way this time around.

Ryan Reynolds, in partnership with Rob McElhenney, bought the club back in November 2020. But how much is it worth now following a brilliant season and a Disney Plus documentary?

MORE: How and when Wrexham could clinch promotion

How much did Ryan Reynolds pay for Wrexham?

Reynolds and McElhenney reportedly paid around £2 million ($2.5 million) for the non-league club. To compare this to leagues above them, a League 2 side could cost up to five times as much as Wrexham, whereas some Premier League clubs go into the billions.

(according to transfermarkt)

Division Cost (£) Cost ($)
Premier League 214.6-925.5 million 266.9 million -1.15 billion
Championship 17.9-115.9 million 22.2-144.1 million
League One 5.2-17.19 million 6.5- 21.4 million
League Two 3-9 million 3.7- 11.2 million

When it comes to buying clubs, bidders would have to pay more than what the 'cost' of the team is. For example, those trying to buy Manchester United at the moment are bidding over £5 billion for the majority ownership of the club.

How much are Wrexham worth now?

If Wrexham were worth £2 million when RR McReynolds Company bought them, they are certainly worth far more than that now!

The club are not only thriving on the pitch, but their status off the pitch is also growing thanks to their Hollywood owners. Wrexham's kit sponsors are popular social media platform TikTok, but their contract finishes at the end of this season.

The club were also given a docuseries called 'Welcome to Wrexham', which aired on Hulu in the USA and Disney+ in the UK. Reports claim that the club earned almost £4 million from the series, with Disney also making a big profit from it.

The increase in interest has been reflected in the viewership of the club's title clash against Notts County. The game had more twitter mentions than Liverpool vs Arsenal, while their FA Cup fixture against Sheffield United was ESPN's most followed soccer game on the network for the day.

Although the wages of Phil Parkinson and players such as Paul Mullin may be higher than the average National League player, the value of Wrexham has certainly risen over the last three years since the takeover.
