As much as players love winning trophies in football, the big name strikers will always keep an eye on the Golden Boot award.

All goalscorers will want to score more than their counterparts and take home the award at the end of the season. Erling Haaland is certainly one of those players.

The Manchester City forward has scored 52 goals so far this season, including 36 in the Premier League. This won him the Golden Boot in the league, but he is not quite done yet.

Winning one Golden Boot award in a season is already impressive enough, but the Norwegian striker could do it in two competitions this term with one match left to play in the Champions League final.

The Sporting News looks at players to have won the Golden Boot in the Champions League and Premier League in the same season.

Erling Haaland

Haaland's presence was definitely felt in the Premier League during his debut season with the Citizens. He scored hat-tricks against Manchester United, Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest while also bagging goals in both fixtures versus Arsenal.

He beat Tottenham's Harry Kane to the 2022/23 Golden Boot by six goals, but his minutes were restricted once City had secured the Premier League title.

Haaland is all but confirmed as the Champions League Golden Boot winner too this season as he leads the list with 12 goals. Liverpool's Mohamed Salah is second with eight goals, but there are no Inter players who could realistically catch him.

Inter's top scorer in the European competition is actually former Man City striker Edin Dzeko. The Bosnian forward has found the back of the net four times in this campaign.

Dwight Yorke

In 1999, Dwight Yorke became the first player to win the Premier League and Champions League Golden Boot in the same season. He is one of three Manchester United players to achieve this feat.

Ruud van Nistelrooy

Ruud van Nistelrooy is one of the most prolific strikers the Champions League has ever seen. He won the Golden Boot in the 2001/02, 2002/03, and 2004/05 editions of the tournament.

During the 2002/03 season, he managed to join Yorke in Man United folklore as he won his one and only Premier League top scorer award. He beat the English top-flight legend Thierry Henry to the award with 25 goals.

He could not outscore the Frenchman again, but still managed to win titles with the Red Devils.

Cristiano Ronaldo

Cristiano Ronaldo confirmed his spot amongst the best players in the world after an incredible 2007/08 season. It was so good that he won the 2008 Ballon d'Or award, the first of five golden balls for the Portuguese player.

Ronaldo equaled Alan Shearer's record of 31 goals in a 36-game Premier League season. To go along with this, the tricky winger scored eight goals in the Champions League to win the Golden Boot.

Man United beat Chelsea on penalties in the 2008 final in Moscow, Russia, after the match ended 1-1 after extra time. Ronaldo scored the goal for the Red Devils, but he did miss his penalty in the shootout.
