The 2023 UEFA Super Cup is now down to two potential winners as the Champions League and Europa League finals have wrapped up.

Manchester City defeated Inter Milan in the Champions League final to clinch their place in another showpiece occasion, as Rodri fired Pep Guardiola's men to a 1-0 win. 

Sevilla lifted the Europa League trophy yet again, this time beating Jose Mourinho's Roma via penalties.

The winners of each competition will now compete for the UEFA Super Cup. Although the Champions League winner is called the 'home' team for administrative purposes, the Super Cup is played at a neutral location.

When is the 2023 UEFA Super Cup?

The 2023 UEFA Super Cup match takes place on August 162023. It's in the week following the start of the 2023/24 Premier League season.

Where is the 2023 UEFA Super Cup?

The location of the 2023 UEFA Super Cup has changed due to political reasons.

In 2020, the Ak Bars Arena in Kazan, Russia was selected as the host for the match. Due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the final was relocated in January 2023.

The new venue for the 2023 UEFA Super Cup will be Stadio Georgios Karaiskakis in Piraeus, Greece. This is the home stadium of 47-time Greek Super League winners Olympiacos, and the arena in which AC Milan beat Liverpool 2-1 in the Champions League final of 2007.

This is the second final that has been moved from Russian territory since FIFA and UEFA banned the country from their competitions. The 2022 UEFA Champions League final host was changed from Saint Petersburg to Paris, France.

What happened in the 2022 UEFA Super Cup?

Real Madrid are the holders of the UEFA Super Cup after they beat Eintracht Frankfurt in the 2022 final. The match was played at the Olympic Stadium in Helsinki, Finland in front of 31,042 fans.

David Alaba and Karim Benzema both got on the scoresheet as Los Blancos won 2-0, while midfielder Casemiro, now with Manchester United, won the man of the match award.
