Why did Wilfried Zaha and Stormzy choose AFC Croydon?
The reason AFC Croydon was chosen by Zaha and Stormzy was due to a personal connection to the local area. Although the Palace winger was born in Ivory Coast, he grew up in Thornton Heath, Croydon from the age of four. He is involved in community projects through his foundation and academy in the area.
Stormzy, real name Michael Ebenezer Kwadjo Omari Owuo Jr, was born in Croydon in 1993. He is a Manchester United fan and included former Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho in his music video for "Mel Made Me Do It".
The statement from AFC Croydon explained that both celebrities intend to develop their childhood hometown football club.
Danny Young has spent close to 10 years working with the Eagles in south London. His primary role is ensuring that every first-team player can focus on their football by helping them off the pitch.
