Australia have retained The Ashes with a 2-1 lead after four Tests, with a rain-affected clash in Manchester sealing England's fate.

England's attacking style of cricket put them in a position to win the first two matches, but ultimately it probably cost them on both occasions as the Aussies picked up wins at Edgbaston and Lord's.

Australia have been dealt a major injury blow however, with influential spinner Nathan Lyon ruled out for the final three games due to a calf injury suffered at Lord's.

Cameron Green has also picked up a hamstring injury which has ruled him out of the game in Leeds and opened the door for Mitch Marsh to return to Test cricket.

Meanwhile, the hosts have also been dealt a major blow with Ollie Pope missing the remainder of the series due to a shoulder injury.

England full squad and injury news

The massive blow for England heading into the series came in the form of Jofra Archer.

The superstar quick who sent shockwaves through the Australian batting lineup four years ago will not partake in the series, with a recurrence of an elbow injury ruling him out for an indefinite period and placing his Test future in doubt

Jack Leach will miss the entire Ashes series due to a stress fracture in lower back, opening the door for Moeen Ali to return to the fold after retiring from red-ball cricket in 2021.

Ollie Pope will miss the last three games of the series due to a shoulder injury. Despite poor form with the gloves and the bat, the England selectors have kept faith with Jonny Bairstow and resisted the urge to recall Ben Foakes.
