Most runs in an ODI World Cup edition: Virat Kohli breaks Sachin Tendulkar's 20-year-old record

India are in action against New Zealand in the first semi-final of the 2023 Cricket World Cup at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

Winning the toss, captain Rohit Sharma decided to bat first. On a batting-friendly pitch, India started well as Rohit Sharma scored 47 and Shubman Gill contributed with 79 runs before getting retired.

It was then in-form Virat Kohli's turn to take the innings forward and the star batter has done a tremendous job. 

Kohli is on his way to score his 50th ODI century and go past Sachin Tendulkar's tally of 49. The 35-year-old also broke another Tendulkar record on Wednesday as he went past the great man's tally of 673 runs in a single Cricket World Cup edition.
