Talismanic Indian batsman Virat Kohli has dropped hints about his retirement plans, stating that he plans to leave no unfinished business when he eventually steps away from the game.

The 35-year-old Kohli is still at the top of his game and was recently named the Player of the Tournament in the 2023 ODI World Cup.

He continues to go strong in the IPL as well, leading the runscorers chart in the ongoing edition where he plays for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).

He is also part of India's upcoming T20 World Cup squad, and will have a huge say on the team's fortunes in the competition, set to get underway in the West Indies and USA next month.

So, what did he say about his retirement plans?

What did Kohli say about his retirement plans?

In a freewheeling chat during an RCB event, Kohli revealed that he aims to play with complete commitment till he decides to call it a day. He also said that he plans to leave no unfinished business when he decides to do retire.

"For me, I don't want to finish my career with any undone business which I'm sure of what I want. So I want to give it everything I have till the time I play & that thing keeps me going," he said.

Interestingly, it must be noted that Kohli has never won the T20 World Cup despite coming close on several occasions. He did win the ODI World Cup when India won the event at home in 2011.

It could be that one of his unfinsihed businesses might be a T20 World Cup crown.

Kohli: You won't see me after I retire

Kohli, who has scored a record 51 centuries in ODIs, also mentioned that he won't be hanging around in the game as a commentator or coach after his retirement.

"Once I'm done in cricket, I'll be gone, you won't see me for a while," he added.

It should be interesting to see how Kohli's career spans out for the next few years. The former India captain is also yet to win the ICC World Test Championship.

It must also be noted that Kohli generally does not talk about his retirement and this probably one of those rare occasions he has opened up on the topic.

What next for Kohli?

Kohli's immediate aim, however, will be to secure RCB qualification to the IPL 2024 Playoffs. They face a must-win game against CSK on Saturday and Kohli will need to be at his best to secure his team a miraculous result.
