With the 2021/22 league campaign having now reached its conclusion, attention is turning towards preparation for next season.

This summer, once again clubs will be able to jet off to countries across the globe for their pre-season tours, given the fact that legislation surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic has been eased in most countries.

Chelsea is set for an exciting pre-season, with a trip to the United States, as they prepare for competitive action, before facing Frank Lampard's Everton on the opening weekend of the Premier League season.

Here's what we know so far about Thomas Tuchel's men and their pre-season plans.

Date Opponents Location Competition
July 16 Club America Allegiant Stadium, Las Vegas. FS Series Clash of Nations
July 20 Charlotte FC Bank of America Stadium, Charlotte. FS Series Clash of Nations
July 23 Arsenal Camping World Stadium, Orlando. Florida Cup

Chelsea vs. Club America

Prior to heading to Florida, the Blues will begin their tour of the US by taking on Club America, Mexico’s most successful club team, in Las Vegas.

Chelsea last faced the Mexican side 13 years ago in Texas when goals from Franco Di Santo and Florent Malouda sealed a 2-0 victory.

Chelsea vs. Charlotte FC

Chelsea then head to North Carolina to take on Major League Soccer side Charlotte FC at the Bank of America Stadium.

The club previously played Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2015, watched by over 60,000 spectators in the same stadium.

Chelsea have confirmed kick-off times for both matches will be finalised in due course but will definitely be evening games.

Chelsea vs. Arsenal

Chelsea will play rivals Arsenal on July 23, 2022, in a match that will be held at the Camping World Stadium in Florida.

Both sides will go head to head to win the so-called 'Florida Cup', in what will be a great opportunity for stateside Blues and Gunners fans to see their teams compete in a London derby.

Who will be included in Tuchel's US/Pre-season squad?

Todd Boehly's takeover of the club has opened up the possibility of a summer overhaul of Tuchel's squad as the Blues aim to challenge for the Premier League title in 2023.

Despite over a string of potential new arrivals, Tuchel has not secured any new faces at the start of July, with big name exits generating more focus.

Defensive duo Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen have joined Real Madrid and Barcelona respectively following their contracts expiring at Stamford Bridge.

However, Romelu Lukaku's loan switch back to Inter Milan will frustrate Tuchel, after the Belgian superstar failed to fire on his Chelsea return last season.

Where has Chelsea toured in recent seasons?

Chelsea hasn't travelled anywhere for the past two campaigns, instead choosing to stay at home and play friendlies in England owing to the severity of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The last time the Blues were able to make tracks for pre-season was in 2019/20, where they toured Ireland, Japan, Austria and Germany playing various fixtures in the run-up to the start of the competitive season.

The last time they were on Stateside soil was at the end of the 2018/19 calendar, playing a post-season friendly against New England Revolution at the Gillette Stadium running out 3-0 winners.
