LeBron James' social media thread of viral moments proves Lakers star is one of the funniest people in sports

LeBron James entered the national spotlight at 16 and became a worldwide icon shortly after. Over the past few decades, the world has gotten to know King James very well.

In addition to his prowess on the basketball court, James' social media presence has given fans a look inside his day-to-day life. Say what you want about James, but it's hard to deny that he's one of the most entertaining people around. As a recent trend on X (formerly Twitter) reminded us, James tends to be unintentionally hilarious.

On Friday, Aug. 9, a Jrue Holiday fan account with the handle @JrueUTD posted, "What’s the funniest LeBron Moment" on X. In the days since, the post has garnered over 135 million views and over 10,000 engagements, with users quoting the post with some of James' funniest moments.

The moments used in the quotes range from James' social media activity to candid moments and seemingly random things he's done during games. The consensus is that James is a funny guy.

In-game moments

Among the funnies is James' inexplicable decision to put Wendell Carter Jr.'s lenses over his eyes after a goggles accident in a game between the Lakers and Magic.

Social media moments

A self-described doodler, James shared some of his art on his Instagram story. A drawing of Bart Simpson, wearing a "More Than An Athlete" t-shirt. James also apologized to the fictional character for giving him "a big ass head."

In an older era of Instagram, James shared a photo from the dentist's chair with the caption, "Please someone help me!!!"

There's the genuine shock and horror he shared upon learning an Outback Steakhouse in Akron, Ohio would be closing.

He added a curious selection of hashtags while documenting a razor shave in Italy from a man he felt resembled former U.S. President George W. Bush.
