Jonathan Owens celebration: Bears safety hints at ode to wife Simone Biles on 'Hard Knocks'

Jonathan Owens is flipping head over heels for Simone Biles.

It's well-documented how much the Bears safety supports his Olympic gymnast wife, and vice versa. The two have been seen frequently at each other's sporting events, with Biles attending multiple Packers games last year when Owens was a member of Green Bay. Owens returned the favor this summer, rooting on Biles with USA gymnastics at the 2024 Paris Olympics

While the Olympic gymnastics competition is complete — Biles ended her third Olympics with three gold medals and a silver — the acrobatics are making their way to the gridiron, thanks to Owens.

The Bears are the team currently highlighted on "Hard Knocks," HBO's behind-the-scenes football show highlighting an NFL team ahead of the season. Owens inked a two-year deal this offseason with Chicago, bringing his talents in the secondary to the Windy City.

It turns out he may be bringing the flips as well. During the latest episode of "Hard Knocks," Owens debuted a Biles-inspired celebration that he may be breaking out at some point this season.

Here is more to know about Owens and his potential Biles-like celebration.

Jonathan Owens celebration

Owens and other members of the Bears secondary were discussing his trip over to Paris to see his wife dazzle on the international stage. The safety detailed how his first meal was a burger and fries, but he enjoyed a "couple croissants" and the "best fruit" he's ever had.

His teammate, fellow defensive back Elijah Hicks, proposed the idea of doing a flip whenever he secured an interception. While uncommon a decade ago, celebrations for defensive members have become increasingly more popular, with entire defensive units getting in the end zone to celebrate whenever there is a pick or fumble recovery.

Owens seemed down with the idea, suggesting that not only could he do a flip, but he would have to salute to the crowd after — just like Biles.

"Yo, one of your celebrations, you got to do a flip when you get a pick," Hicks said to Owens.

"I'm [going to] salute with it, though," Owens responded.

"You gotta do a flip and land it," Hicks said. "How hard would that [be]? That's hard. That's clean."

Bears fans will have to wait and see if Owens gets to break out a flip on the field. He has not recorded an interception in the NFL since his first season in 2021 with the Texans. He did not pick off any quarterbacks in 2022 or 2023.

If Owens does get the chance to flip out, it's almost a guarantee it won't be as smooth as his wife's — but hey, you can only ask for so much when married to one of the greatest gymnasts of all time.
