Scotland have the chance to make history at Euro 2024, but defensive problems have hampered their preparations for a win-or-go-home Group A decider with Hungary on Sunday.

Already facing something of a headache at the back following the red card shown to Ryan Porteous in the opening 5-1 hammering against Germany, coach Steve Clarke was dealt a further blow on the eve of the final pool clash after Kieran Tierney flew home with a hamstring problem.

The Arsenal man was forced off on a stretcher in the 1-1 draw with Switzerland that kept Scotland's hopes alive of progressing to the knockout stages of a major tournament for the first time in their history, and he will play no further part in the competition.

A win for either of these sides would give them a chance of progressing as one of the best third-place sides, but Hungary will need to show more than in their consecutive two-goal defeats (3-1 to Switzerland and 2-0 against Germany) if they are to mount an unlikely qualification bid.
