Top super middleweight contenders collide when Christian Mbilli faces Sergiy  Derevyanchenko on August 17. The fight takes place in Quebec City and will air on ESPN+.

The 29-year-old Mbilli (27-0) has won 23 fights via knockout and has stopped two opponents via the power punch in 2024. One of those wins came against former British and Commonwealth champion Mark Heffron.

The French fighter is number one in the WBC’s rankings at 168 and hopes to earn a title shot following this fight. However, he knows that securing an impressive win over Derevyancheko is no mean feat.

“It’s hard to stop a fighter that is that solid and that always leaves everything on the ring,” Mbilli told The Ring. “You would have to be in terrific shape to stop him, which I think I am. I’m ready, physically and mentally to give him the toughest fight of his career.”

The 2007 World Championships bronze medalist has proven he can be a threat at any weight and is ready to continue that trend in 2024.

Formidable heavyweights clash in a rematch from their amateur days on the undercard while several fighters look to move up in the rankings.
