Pittsburgh and Oregon, two top-10 volleyball programs, will face off Friday to open their 2024 seasons.
Pitt is coming off a second consecutive Final Four run, falling to No. 1-ranked Nebraska last December. The Panthers will face a talented Oregon squad that knocked off the Pitt in five sets last September and advanced to the Elite 8 in each of the past two seasons.
The Ducks were 29-6 last season and return nine players from that roster, including junior Mimi Colyer who was selected to the Big Ten Preseason All-Conference Team. Transfers Mackenzie Morris (Kansas State) and Michelle Ohwobete (UC Santa Barbara) are key additions to the squad.
Pitt is aiming even higher this season, returning five All-Americans in Rachel Fairbanks, Olivia Babcock, Torrey Stafford, Emmy Kilka and Valeria Vazquez Gomez.
