Poker Masters leaderboard information

Every player that cashes in a 2023 Poker Masters event earns PGT points. These points allow players to rank on both the Poker Masters series leaderboard and the PGT season leaderboard. Players must finish in the money of a tournament to earn points, and points are determined by finishing position, prize money won, and tournament buy-in.

The player that earns the most PGT points throughout the 2023 Poker Masters series will be presented with the Poker Masters Purple Jacket and awarded the $50,000 championship bonus. The winner will join a list of elite high-roller players that includes Sean Winter, Michael Addamo, and Sam Soverel.

Key players to watch

Two players we’ll have our eyes on for the 2023 Poker Masters are two of the biggest names in the game. Phil Hellmuth and Daniel Negreanu are ones to watch, to see what sort of performances they’ll turn in. Hellmuth is currently 11th on the PGT leaderboard, and Negreanu is sitting in 36th place.

Chris Brewer is on a bit of a heater in 2023, already having won more than $11,500,000 on the year. The only player to have cashed for more money in 2023 is WSOP Main Event champion Daniel Weinman, and it’s also Weinman who is the only player sitting ahead of Brewer on the PGT leaderboard. It’s less likely that Weinman will be at the Poker Masters compared to Brewer, so we’ll see if Brewer is able to retake the PGT leaderboard top spot from the 2023 WSOP Main Event champ.

Sitting sixth on the PGT leaderboard and already having won the 2023 PokerGO Cup is Cary Katz. He is always in contention to win one of these PGT series titles, just as Katz did in January for the PokerGO Cup. We’ll be watching to see if he’s able to grab his second PGT major of the year at the Poker Masters.

No player has won the Poker Masters Purple Jacket twice, but it could certainly happen in 2023 because we expect Sam Soverel (2019 winner) and Sean Winter (2022 winner) to be in the mix for plenty of events.

More to come from the PGT

Once the 2023 Poker Masters concludes on Sept. 26, there are a plethora of events remaining for the 2023 PGT season as players look to qualify for the season-ending 2023 PGT Championship $1,000,000 freeroll.

The top 40 players on the PGT leaderboard at season’s end will automatically receive a seat in the 2023 PGT Championship, where there is a $500,000 first-place prize guaranteed for the winner and payouts for the remainder of the final table.
