Chelsea have confirmed that Jadon Sancho will join 17 other players at Cobham for additional training under Enzo Maresca during the international break.

The Manchester United loanee is expected to make his debut for the Blues against Bournemouth next week.

Chelsea’s season has seen a mixed start, with a defeat to Manchester City, a win over Wolves, and a draw against Crystal Palace.

With the first international break of the season, many of Chelsea's first-team players have jetted off to represent their countries. However, 18 players, including Sancho, will remain at the club’s training complex for some extra work.

Key players to stay behind for intensive sessions

Sancho, who joined Chelsea just before the transfer deadline, will use this time to get acclimated to his new surroundings and teammates. The 24-year-old winger is eager to impress ahead of his expected debut at AFC Bournemouth on September 14.

In addition to Sancho, players like Marcus Bettinelli, Reece James, Benoit Badiashile, Axel Disasi, and Christopher Nkunku will also stay behind. Reece James, who is recovering from a minor injury, is set to be available after the break, while Malo Gusto and Wesley Fofana will focus on their rehabilitation.

Enzo Maresca, who took over as head coach this summer, sees this break as an opportunity to work closely with the players who remain at Cobham. This period will allow him to implement his strategies and get the team in sync for the upcoming fixtures.

Chelsea’s next match against Bournemouth will be crucial as they aim to climb up the Premier League table. The extra training sessions could be vital for players like Sancho, who will be looking to make an immediate impact at his new club.
