Mauricio Pochettino is looking to guide Chelsea back to the top of the table following a disastrous 2022/23 Premier League campaign.

The Blues finished 12th in the league table and failed to make any real impact in the EFL Cup, FA Cup, and Champions League. Both Thomas Tuchel and Graham Potter were sacked during the season as Pochettino is now at the helm.

Todd Boehly has come under a lot of pressure due to his ownership style and incomings in the transfer market. Chelsea have spent over £600m since he took over in 2022.

Due to Chelsea's poor campaign in the Premier League and domestic cups, they will not be participating in any European competitions in the 2023/24 season.

Pochettino could find it easier to manage Chelsea without the additional pressure of the Champions League, but he will need to get them back into the competition sooner rather than later for financial reasons.

EFL Cup dates 2023/24

The first round EFL Cup will commence on August 7, 2023, but Chelsea will enter in the next round. The competition will end on February 25, 2024 while the rounds in between have not been given a date yet.

Chelsea Premier League betting odds

Man City are favourites to win the 2023/24 Premier League title after one of the most dominant seasons in European history. Bookmakers do not think Chelsea will make the top four as they expect Liverpool, Arsenal, and Man United to take the remaining spots.

The Blues have been tipped for a top half finish this time around, but the growth of Newcastle and Aston Villa could see them in a close battle for a Europa League spot.

Chelsea best & worst Premier League finish

Chelsea have won the Premier League a total of five times, with only Man City and Man United winning the trophy more often. Their last success came in the 2016/17 season as Antonio Conte guided them to victory.

The Blues' worst Premier League finish came last season, as their 12th place finish broke an unwanted record. They previously finished 11th in the 1995/96 season, ending the campaign on 50 points.
