The Esports World Cup is expanding the video game world into another realm.

Local area network tournaments aren't a new thing for individual games, but the tournament held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia is holding 21 games at one location. Only one game will have a men's and women's tournament. It's the first-ever World Cup within the esports field.

It spans over a month, beginning on July 4. Each individual game's tournament has its own end date, but the entire tournament concludes on Aug. 24.

The Esports World Cup will be dishing out a record prize pool, divided up into four categories. The total purse is the most given out at an esports event in history.

Here's what to know about the Esports World Cup prize pool.

What is the Esports World Cup purse in 2024?

The Esports World Cup purse is $60 million split across four divisions.

Before the World Cup began, $7.6 million was handed out to teams that qualified for the event.

Over $33 million is allocated for each individual tournament. There are 21 games at the World Cup, so each winning team will take home the prize money. The MVP of each tournament will also pocket $50,000.

The last $20 million is split between the top 16 organizations at the World Cup. Teams earn points for their placement in respective tournaments, which add up to the organization's total at the end of the World Cup.

For example, T1, a South Korean esports organization, won the League of Legends tournament. If they also win the Teamfight Tactics tournament, they will improve their rank in the overall standings.

If there is a tie for first place, the Club with more first-place finishes will win the tiebreaker. If they are the same, the tiebreaker goes to second-place finishes "and so on."

If all finishes are tied, the tiebreaker goes to which team has more points from head-to-head matches with the club it's tied with.

There are no tiebreakers for any position below first place. If there is a tie, money will be split between the organizations.
