Robert Lewandowski has enjoyed a sensational start to the 2024/25 La Liga season with four goals in the first four games of the campaign.

The Polish international played a central role in his debut season in Spanish football, in 2022/23, as his 23 league goals powered Barcelona to the title.

However, his goal output dipped last season, as Real Madrid edged out their El Clasico rivals in the title race, and he scored 19 goals in league action.

Despite not being a poor return in front of goal, Lewandowski holds himself to the highest of standards, with his previous eight seasons - including seven at Bayern Munich - all featuring 20+ league goals.

Lewandowski's start to the season indicates he is ready to lead Hansi Flick's attack in ruthless style and the veteran striker wants to rediscover his previous level.

"Flick and I won everything in football (at Bayern Munich). I lots of goals, but as you know, in that team everything was perfect", as per quotes from Mundo Deportivo.

"We tried to get the ball as quickly as possible and we scored a lot of goals because we focused on playing more offensively.

"Of course I want to score more goals than last season. That's the goal, scoring more than 30, I don't know, maybe 35. It also depends on the team. So I hope they give me plenty of opportunities to score goals."

Lewandowski is back in Barcelona action on September 15, as they head to Girona, but he will captain Poland on UEFA Nations League duty this week against Scotland and Croatia.
