Dwyane Wade is putting his money where his mouth is.

As first reported by ESPN's Alexa Philippou, the NBA legend and Chicago native will be joining the ownership group of the WNBA's Chicago Sky. In a statement to ESPN, Wade said, "Instead of tweeting out and saying 'go support the W,' instead of showing up at the game and supporting, I wanted to take it to that next level."

Wade's stake in the team is not yet known but will require official approval by WNBA owners before it becomes official. Per ESPN, Wade is purchasing his stake based on an $85 million dollar valuation of the franchise.

Wade also confirmed the move on his personal Instagram.

This is not Wade's first foray into ownership. He is currently a minority owner of the Utah Jazz after purchasing a stake in the team back in 2021. The team's majority owner, Ryan Smith, purchased a majority controlling stake of the franchise in 2020 from previous owner Gail Miller. Wade and Miller had met previously the year before, striking up a friendship following Wade's retirement.

It's a big stretch for Wade who will also go into the Basketball Hall of Fame in September as part of a class that also includes Dirk Nowitzki, Tony Parker, Pau Gasol and Gregg Popovich.

So now that he's set to own percentages in both an NBA and WNBA team, one must ask: How much is Dwyane Wade actually worth?
