The top-seeded Thunder are looking to open a two-game lead against the Pelicans in the Western Conference playoffs Wednesday at the Paycom Center.

Oklahoma City edged New Orleans, 94-92, in Game 1 behind Shai Gilgeous-Alexander's 30 points. Gilgeous-Alexander, a finalist for the NBA's Most Valuable Player award, also converted the go-ahead basket in the final minute.

Jalen Williams scored 19 points, while Chet Holmgren added 15 points, 11 rebounds and five blocks for the Thunder, who forced 14 turnovers.

New Orleans was hampered by the absence of Zion Williamson, who is out with a strained left hamstring. The team announced Williamson would be re-evaluated in about two weeks following the April 17 diagnosis. That means that Williamson won't be cleared to return until at least May 1, which coincides with Game 5 of New Orleans' first-round series with Oklahoma City.

Trey Murphy III scored 21 points, McCollum had 20 and Jonas Valanciunas added 13 points and 20 rebounds for the Pelicans in Game 1.
