The third-seeded Timberwolves meet sixth-seeded Suns meet in the first round of the 2024 Western Conference’s NBA playoffs.

Phoenix swept the regular season series, 3-0.

Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards was named to the 2024 USA Basketball Men’s National Team. Edwards is averaging a career-high 25.9 points, 5.4 rebounds and a career-high 5.1 assists on the season. He became the first player in franchise history to average more than 25 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists per game. 

Another key player for Minnesota is Rudy Gobert, one of the favorites to win a record-tying fourth Defensive Player of the Year. Gobert is averaging 14 points and 12.9 rebounds per game.

Minnesota should also get a boost from Karl-Anthony Towns, who missed 18 games with a meniscus tear.

The Suns are led by Kevin Durant, who is averaging 27.1 points per game. Durant is a three-time Olympic champion and was recently named to the 2024 USA Basketball Men’s National Team.

Suns guard Grayson Allen, who recently signed to a multi-year contract extension, was NBA’s league leader in three-point percentage last season. Allen averaged 13.5 points on 49.9% shooting from the field and 46.1% from three-point range, 3.9 rebounds and 3.0 assists in 33.5 minutes over 75 games (74 starts). 

Jusuf Nurkic leads Phoenix with 11.0 rebounds and 1.1 steals per game.
