With the 2024 NFL season just days away, another competitive season is about to kick off for the NFC West.

Brock Purdy, Christian McCaffrey and the defending conference-champion 49ers will look to win the division once again. The Rams should also be very good, with Matthew Stafford coming off another stellar year thanks in large part to the breakouts of rookies Puka Nacua and Kyren Williams. And although the retirement of Aaron Donald leaves a big void, a healthy Cooper Kupp could more than make up for it on the other side of the ball.

Then there are exciting young offenses in Seattle and Arizona, two teams that always seem like dark-horse candidates if the chips fall the right way for them. So, who's winning the West?

Let's get to the NFC West odds, and unveil the Sporting News' betting team's pick to win the division in the 2024 NFL season.

NFC West odds 2024: 49ers heavy favorites over Rams

Team Odds
San Francisco 49ers -200
Los Angeles Rams +325
Seattle Seahawks +750
Arizona Cardinals  +1400

Not surprisingly, the 49ers serve as heavy -200 favorites to win the NFC West. They won the division each of the last two seasons, made four of the past five conference championships, and made the Super Bowl twice in the past half-decade under Kyle Shanahan.

The Rams own the second-shortest odds at +325, also not a shock considering they have won three divisional titles, made the playoffs five of the past seven seasons, and gone 1-of-2 in Super Bowls under Sean McVay.

The Seahawks, who are still trying to find their identity sans Pete Carroll, are 75-to-1, while the upstart Cardinals yield the fifth-longest divisional odds in the NFL at +1400.

NFC West odds 2024: Best bet to win the division

49ers (-200)

Don't overthink this one — the Niners may seem priced too high because of their standing as defending NFC champs, but they're priced this high because they remain the best team in the conference.

Brock Purdy continues to improve as an efficient, MVP-caliber signal-caller, and reigning Offensive Player of the Year Christian McCaffrey is still the best overall player in the NFL.

But that's not all. San Francisco still boasts the best defense, the strongest coaching staff, and the most lethal trio of pass-catchers in the conference. Having Deebo Samuel, Brandon Aiyuk, and George Kittle on top of CMC seems like a video game cheat code that no other NFC squad can beat.

The Rams are an easy second-favorite pick in this division, as they have such a talented corps of skill-position players around Stafford. However, a healthy Niners team can still easily outscore Los Angeles — especially if you consider how much better San Francisco is at stopping drives and controlling the clock.

So, while it's boring and yields very little value at -200, the only bet to make in the divisional title odds for the NFC West is a bet on the 49ers. Consider betting the Rams +125 to finish second in the division, because that's exactly what they will be playing for this season.
