As the start of the NFL season continues to near, we'll get a first look at the 2024 Green Bay Packers and Cleveland Browns when the two teams face off in Week 1 of the NFL preseason.

Green Bay Packers coach Matt Lafleur announced that quarterback Jordan Love and other veterans will start in the team's preseason opener.

In the offseason, Love signed a four-year, $220 million contract extension, making him one of the highest paid players in NFL history, setting him up as the face of the Packers for years to come.

For the Browns, quarterback Deshaun Watson will not play in the game after missing the latter half of last season due to a season-ending surgery to his throwing shoulder. Coach Kevin Stefanski said Jameis Winston will instead start, and some other starters will see the field for about 10 plays.

The Packers are coming off a season in which they exceeded expectations in the post-Aaron Rodgers era. While they finished the regular season 9-8, they became the first 7-seed to win a playoff game, defeating the Cowboys in the Wild Card round before falling to the 49ers in the Divisional round, a game they led for most of the way. Green Bay will take on the Eagles in its season-opener on Sept. 6 in Brazil.

The Browns finished the regular season 11-6 even with five different starting quarterbacks throughout the season. Joe Flacco made his return to the NFL and led Cleveland to the playoffs before the Browns were defeated by the Texans.
