The Chiefs will shift from reigning to defending Super Bowl champions when they host the Ravens to kick off the 2024 NFL season.

Kansas City already received its Super Bowl 58 rings during a ceremony back in June. Chiefs stars Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce were flexing their new hardware, adding a third ring to their trophy case.

When they prepare to pursue a fourth Super Bowl ring — and a historic three-peat — it's safe to assume that Kelce's girlfriend Taylor Swift will be in attendance.

With Kansas City playing its first real game since being crowned Super Bowl champions, fans might wonder if "super fan" Swift ended up with a championship ring.

Did Taylor Swift get a Super Bowl ring?

There was no word of whether Swift was given a Super Bowl ring at the Chiefs' ceremony back in June.

Given the frequent research done by her diehard fan base, it's safe to assume that someone would have dug up that information if the pop icon was rewarded with a piece of championship hardware.

However, that does not mean Swift won't receive a ring at some point.

It is not uncommon for teams to create "friends and family" versions of championship rings. Even if Swift wasn't given one of Kansas City's authentic $40,000 rings, she may still end up with a replica version.

The "friends and family" version of championship rings have popped up on the aftermarket in the past. In 2018, a Patriots Super Bowl LI ring with the name "Brady" on it was sold for $344,927, according to an in-depth piece by Fast Company on Super Bowl ring facts.

The ring was later revealed to be a "smaller 'friends and family'" version, and not actually Tom Brady's authentic ice.

If Swift happens to pop out at the Chiefs' season opener with a Super Bowl ring, the Swifties will surely be quick to debunk if it is Kelce's hardware or Taylor's Version.

History of celebrities receiving sports championship rings

There isn't a very long, documented history of celebrities receiving sports championship rings.

Of course, rich and loyal fans or memorabilia collectors can purchase authentic championship rings that pop up on the secondary market — frequently ones that belong to team employees who decide to sell the hardware for a hefty price.

However, it is uncommon for celebrity fans to be gifted rings directly from the team considering authentic rings can run anywhere between $30,000 and $50,000 apiece, according to Fast Company.

One recent instance was rap and hip-hop superstar Drake receiving a Raptors NBA championship ring in 2019, but that is an individual case.

Drake is the Raptors' Global Ambassador, so he is technically an employee of the team. The same goes for Nav Bhatia, who was also given a 2019 championship ring as the Raptors' official superfan. Bhatia was actually inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame for his Raptors super fandom, so it's hard to argue with Toronto's decision for both parties.

The only documented instance of a celebrity given a championship ring from the franchise without being an employee is actress Teri Hatcher, who is best known for playing Lois Lane in "Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman" and Susan Mayer in "Desperate Housewives."

Hatcher was given a 49ers 1995 Super Bowl ring because she was a cheerleader for the team before her big break as an actress. She remained a diehard Niners fan even after her days as a cheerleader were over, and when the team won Super Bowl 29, the franchise rewarded her with a version of the team's championship ring.

If the Chiefs are feeling generous, Swift could join this limited company.
