Australia have named a provisional 15-man squad for the upcoming ICC ODI World Cup, with a final squad to be confirmed by the end of this month.

While the side have been playing against South Africa in T20 international fixtures recently, the Aussies will now turn their attention to the 50-over format for warm-up matches and the upcoming tournament in India.

Pat Cummins will lead the white-ball side, while the likes of David Warner and Steve Smith have also been included for what should be their final World Cup.

Young gun Cameron Green has also been selected, while the in-form Mitchell Marsh will be pushing for a spot in the final XI once their tournament kicks off on Sunday, October 8th.

In a statement released on Wednesday morning (AEST), national selector George Bailey said four of the country's best players have been included as they push to return from injury issues.

“Pat Cummins, Steve Smith, Mitchell Starc and Glenn Maxwell are on track in their return to play programs," he said.

"All are well placed to come back online in the coming weeks and potentially for selection in the upcoming series against India.

“There are eight one-day matches still to play in South Africa and India before the final squad is due to be declared.

"They are followed by two World Cup practice games, which offers plenty of opportunity to continue the build for the tournament.”
