Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh, who had returned home to Perth for personal reasons, is set to make a World Cup comeback next week.

The 32-year-old will join the Australian squad in Mumbai and may be available for selection for the team's next match against Afghanistan, which will be held at the Wankhede Stadium on Tuesday.

Marsh had returned home to be with the family as his grandfather, Ross, passed away on Friday. During the match against England on Saturday, Australia wore black arm-bands to express their solidarity.

Even though Australia was missing Marsh and Glenn Maxwell during the match against England, they scored a convincing 33-run win over the traditional rivals. Australia are now placed third in the points table, with 10 points from seven matches.

How has Mitchell Marsh performed so far in the World Cup?

According to Australian captain Pat Cummins, Marsh is one of the star players of his team and hopes he will have a fully fit squad to choose from in the coming matches. Afghanistan has been the revelation of the tournament, and have already scored upset wins over England, Sri Lanka and Pakistan.

In the six matches he has played so far, Marsh has scored 225 runs. His highest was the 121 in the match against Pakistan in Bengaluru. In the first few matches of the tournament, he opened the innings with David Warner.
