Pakistan squad for NZ T20I series: Usman Khan included as Babar Azam returns to captaincy

Pakistan have announced their squad for the upcoming 5-match T20I series against New Zealand on April 9.

Babar Azam has been officially re-appointed as the captain of the Pakistan white-ball side while UAE-born Usman Khan have been included in the 17-man squad.

On Monday, the PCB appointed former Pakistan all-rounder Azhar Mahmood as the chief coach of the team.

Along with Azam's comeback to the captaincy role ace fast bowler Mohammad Amir has also been included in the team. Amir recently reversed his decision to quit cricket as he came back to international cricket from retirement.

Mahmood previously worked with Pakistan as a bowling coach from 2016 to 2019. He will be joined by Pakistani greats such as Mohammad Yousuf and Saeed Ajmal in the backroom staff. Wahab Riaz, who was appointed as the chief selector in December 2023, has been promoted to the role of senior team manager.

Reserves: Haseeb Ullah, M  Ali, Wasim Jr, Sahibzada Farhan, Agha Salman.

Pakistan will kick off the T20I series against New Zealand on April 18.
