Real Madrid welcome Chelsea to the Santiago Bernabeu as the two sides are drawn together for the third consecutive season.

Real topped Group F and beat Liverpool in the Round of 16 while Chelsea beat AC Milan twice on their way to finishing first in Group E before knocking Borussia Dortmund out of the competition.

The winner of this tie has gone onto win the whole tournament over the last two seasons, but it could be more difficult this time round as Manchester City or Bayern await the victors in the semi-finals.

Real Madrid vs Chelsea lineups

It would be a huge surprise if Ancelotti moved away from a 4-3-3 formation, but the midfield three will be hard to predict for Chelsea.

Lampard chose to play a 4-3-3 in his first game as interim manager, but it is possible he could go slightly more defensive against Real Madrid.

Below are the confirmed starting lineups for both teams ahead of their Champions League match at the Santiago Bernanbeu on Wednesday, April 12.

Real Madrid starting 11

(4-3-3): Courtois (GK) — Carvajal, Militao, Alaba, Camavinga — Valverde, Kroos, Modric — Rodrygo, Benzema, Vinicius Jr

  • Injured: Mendy
  • Suspended: None

Ferland Mendy is the only player who is set to miss out for Real Madrid as he continues to recover from a calf injury, meaning a start for France midfielder Eduardo Camavinga at left-back. David Alaba played the first half against Villarreal and starts again as he seeks to manage a muscular problem.

Toni Kross, Luka Modric, and Federico Valverde were all on the bench for the 3-2 weekend defeat to Villarreal but Ancelotti's starting midfield three are back for another big European night.

Chelsea starting 11

(5-3-2): Kepa (GK) — James, Fofana, Silva, Koulibaly, Chilwell — Kante, Fernandez, Kovacic — Sterling, Joao Felix

  • Injured: Broja
  • Suspended: None

Armando Broja is out for the rest of the season with a knee injury. Thiago Silva is back after a six-week absence to bolster the defence.

Christian Pulisic had his best time in a Chelsea shirt under Lampard and was the first substitute used by the manager during their loss to Wolves. However Raheem Sterling gets the nod to start alongside Joao Felix up front.

There will be more pressure on Real Madrid heading into this game as Chelsea quite simply have nothing to lose.

Ballon d'Or winner Karim Benzema and Vinicius Junior will have a lot of eyes on them as they try to lead their side to back-to-back Champions League titles.
