Both Brazil and Colombia will be desperate to put some underwhelming form behind them when they meet in a vital CONMEBOL qualifying tie this week.
The two nations, usually powerhouses of South American football, both trail in the wake of Argentina at the moment, following La Albiceleste's victory in the 2022 World Cup. Lionel Messi and company have followed that up by storming to the top of the CONMEBOL standings in qualification for the 2026 World Cup, winning four games from four so far.
Brazil, meanwhile, have lost to Uruguay and drawn with Venezuela, while Colombia have recorded three straight draws — two of them 0-0 stalemates, against Ecuador and Chile.

Colombia vs Brazil lineups, team news
Liverpool's Luis Diaz should be available for Colombia after going through a terrible ordeal with his parents being kidnapped. Both are thankfully now safe and well. Elsewhere, Columbus Crew striker Cucho Hernandez could make a start up front, while James Rodriguez is fit.
- Colombia projected lineup (4-2-3-1, right to left): Montero (GK) — Mosquera, Cuesta, Sanchez, Machado — Uribe, Castano — Arias, Rodriguez, Diaz — Cucho.
Manchester United midfieler and Brazil captain Casemiro is out of the current squad as he nurses a hamstring injury. The Seleção are also without Neymar due to a long-term knee injury, so manager Tite may turn to Raphinha in the wide areas.
Ederson has pulled out of the squad injured, so Liverpool's Alisson is certain to start in goal. An assessment will be made on Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus, who has been called up but is carrying a hamstring problem of his own.
- Brazil predicted lineup (4-3-3, right to left): Alisson (GK) — Emerson, Marquinhos, Gabriel, Lodi — Guimaraes, Rodrygo, D. Luiz — Raphinha, Endrick, Vinicius Jr.
Colombia vs Brazil prediction, odds
Neither of these sides has been freescoring so far in CONMEBOL qualifying, and key injuries to Brazil's attacking battery means goals may well be at a premium again.
Colombia are something of a fading force, Luis Diaz, aside, but are always a tricky nut to crack in front of their own fans. The Seleção might just shade a low-scoring contest.
Prediction: Colombia 0-1 Brazil
