Thanks to his gift of gab and fighting skills, Tyson Fury has had a presence in the sport of boxing for almost a decade. “The Gypsy King” is the reigning WBC champ and he now seeks to become undisputed at the expense of unified titleholder Oleksandr Usyk in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on May 18.

The fight will air on DAZN and ESPN+ in the U.S. and TNT Sports Box Office in the U.K. A new undisputed heavyweight champion will be crowned for the first time since 1999.

Fury (34-0-1, 24 KOs) turned pro in 2008 after winning gold in the English National Championships. He won English, Commonwealth, and British heavyweight titles between 2009 and 2011 before moving onto the world scene.

The Brit reached superstar status when he beat Wladimir Klitschko for the WBA, IBF, WBO and Ring heavyweight belts and the sky was the limit. However, a failed drug and mental health issues kept Fury out of the ring for over two years and few expected him to return.

Against all odds, Fury lost approximately 140 pounds in weight and set about an unlikely comeback attempt. Following a controversial draw against Deontay Wilder in 2018, the enigmatic Fury sensationally defeated the American for the WBC and Ring heavyweight titles in February 2020.

Since then, Fury has defended the title three times. His most recent outing was a controversial split decision win over former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou. Dropped by Ngannou in round three, the Englishman built up enough points to get over the line.
