The war of words between Josh Taylor and Jack Catterall over the years will finally end when they face off in a rematch on May 25. The fight in Leeds airs on ESPN+ and DAZN.

Taylor (19-1) is an accomplished fighter and a former undisputed champion at super lightweight gold. "The Tartan Tornado" beat Catterall for all the belts at 140 in 2022, winning a controversial split decision on the cards. Taylor has only fought once since, losing for the first time as a professional against Teofimo Lopez.

Injuries have affected Taylor’s ability to consistently fight. However, the 33-year-old believes he is at his best right now and will go 2-0 against Catterall, this time without facing backlash.

“I think it’s pretty evident [that I have the ability to perform better],” Taylor said on a DAZN broadcast via Bad Left Hook. “It’s pretty obvious from my previous performances and titles and accolades. I’ve done 100 things better. I think his style and the way he boxes — does just enough to try and win — the other guys coming into the division now are good fighters, and they take care of him no problem.

“I don’t think he’ll become a world champion. He’ll be the nearly man in British boxing.”

Catterall (28-1) held the British super lightweight title at one point. “El Gato” has called out Taylor many times following the first fight but never got the rematch he desired, with injuries to the Scot also contributing to the long delay. He has since gone 2-0 following that fight and is finally ready to get his hands on Taylor.

“It’s a relief the fight’s signed now. Two years, we’ve cornered him and we’re in a position where we’ve got the date and venue set, and we can settle it,” Catterall said.

On the undercard, British gold is on the line while local fighters look to impress on the undercard in Leeds.
