Joshua Buatsi and Dan Azeez compete for light heavyweight bragging rights on February 3. The former defends the British and Commonwealth light heavyweight titles in Wembley Arena in a fight that will air on Sky Sports in the U.K. and Peacock in the U.S.

Buatsi (17-0) turned pro in 2017. In 2019, he beat Liam Conroy for the British light heavyweight title and has since taken out the likes of Ryan Ford, Ricards Bolotniks, and Craig Richards. The London-based boxer-puncher defected from Matchroom Boxing to BOXXER in May and defeated Pawel Stepien.

Azeez (20-0) turned pro in 2017. He won the English light heavyweight title against Lawrence Osueke in 2019 and the Commonwealth light heavyweight title in 2022 against Rocky Fielding. “Super" believes his status in boxing will be elevated with a win.

"It’s an eliminator, so hopefully the winner should be fighting for a world title. I see myself as fringe and this is my opportunity to say, ‘Yes, I am.’” Azeez told Boxing Scene. “I wouldn’t say he’s world-class, and I think the resume might prove otherwise, but he’s an Olympian. He should be [world-class], but personally, I just believe that me beating him puts me in that realm. I can start talking about fighting for world titles.

"I’m not somebody who likes to slither their way into the right position at the right time. I always like to earn my spot and earn my keep. It gives me that confidence to be where I am.
