Following the six-wicket defeat in the 2nd Test, Pakistan have extended their winless run in Tests to ten, since their last Test win in March 2021.

This is an embarrassing series result for the Pakistan team as they had a dominating record over visitors Bangladesh in the past. To make it worse, the back-to-back loss in Tests has come at their home ground, in Rawalpindi.

WTC 2024/25: How did Bangladesh whitewash Pakistan 2-0 series in the Test series?

The two teams played back-to-back matches at the Rawalpindi cricket stadium, where the home team Pakistan ended up on the losing side both times.

Did Bangladesh dominate the Tests or were Pakistan make a lot of mistakes? Well, Pakistan batted first in both the matches and looked to have the upper hand at some point in the first half of the Test, however, all their advantage was lost in the second half of either Tests.

In the first Test, Pakistan declared prematurely at 448/6, and in return the visitors scored 565 runs, thanks to a 191-run inning from Mushfiqur Rahim while securing a lead of 117 runs for the team. In their second innings, the home team collapsed to just 146 runs after a shocking batting performance.

In the second Test, after scoring 274 runs, Pakistan had an advantage by reducing Bangladesh to 26/6 after an excellent opening spell from the pacers Khurram Shehzad and Mir Hamza, however, the home team led by Masood failed to capitalise on it. Litton Das (138) and Mehidy Hasan Miraz (77) struck a 150+ run partnership.

The visitors were bowled out for 262 runs. With a lead of 12 runs, Pakistan once again saw another batting collapse in the second half of the match, in the third innings, which saw them finish at 172 runs, after an impressive fast bowling display from the Bangladesh pacers Hasan Mahmud (0/60 & 5/43) and youngster Nahid Rana (1/58 & 4/44).

With Bangladesh needing just 185 runs to clean sweep the series 2-0, they chased down the target comfortably, to win the match by 6 wickets on Day 5 of the second Test.

Experienced campaigners Mushfiqur Rahim and Shakib Al Hasan guided the team past the finish line, in their historic series victory.

The Test series also saw Pakistan's talisman batter Babar Azam failing in four consecutive innings extending his poor run of form, with scores of 0, 22, 31, and 11, and failing to record a fifty in his last 16 Test innings.
