Pakistan cricket has hit a new low, suffering a 0-2 Test series defeat at the hands of Bangladesh, a result that has sent shockwaves through the cricketing community.

The defeat, Pakistan's sixth in their last ten home Tests, has sparked a wave of criticism from fans, former players, and experts alike. Among the most vocal critics is former Pakistan cricketer Basit Ali, who made explosive remarks about the current state of Pakistani cricket.

What led to Pakistan's downfall?

The second Test against Bangladesh was a disaster for Pakistan. After dominating the early stages of the match by reducing Bangladesh to 26 for 6 in their first innings, Pakistan inexplicably let the game slip away.

A brilliant partnership between Litton Das and Mehidy Hasan Miraz resurrected Bangladesh's innings. Bangladesh's lower-order fightback and Pakistan's inability to capitalize on their early advantage led to a lot of criticism.

This defeat was not just a loss; it was a historic humiliation, as it marked the first time Bangladesh had beaten Pakistan in a Test series.

Basit Ali's explosive comments on Pakistan Cricket

In the aftermath of the defeat, Basit Ali did not mince his words. He slammed the current state of Pakistani cricket, claiming that the younger generation in Pakistan has lost interest in the game due to the team's poor performances.

"Our country hates Pakistani cricket now. This is what our cricket has given to its people," Basit Ali told ARY NEWS.

Basit referenced the 2019 World Cup disaster, stating that the aftershocks of that debacle are still being felt today. "The disaster of 2019 is being rewound again," he added.

Basit also highlighted the stark contrast between the performances of the Pakistani bowlers, who are well-known and highly regarded, and the relatively unknown Bangladeshi bowlers.

"Bangladesh's bowlers, who are not even known, took 36 wickets in the series, while our superstars could only manage 24 wickets," he lamented.
