Kevin Pietersen wants Virat Kohli to leave RCB to win IPL title

Former RCB batter and England legend Kevin Pietersen has opened up about Kohli's misery in the IPL as the coveted trophy remained elusive in the decorated batter's trophy cabinet.

After RCB faced elimination from IPL 2024, Pietersen has now urged Kohli to part ways with the franchise in order to win the trophy next season.

Speaking on Star Sports after the match, the ex-England star said,

I have said it before and I will say it again — the greats of the game in other sports, have left teams to go and seek glory somewhere else. When he has tried and tried so hard — won the Orange Cap yet again and done so much yet again and the franchise fails again I understand the brand of the team and the commercial value he brings to the team… But Virat Kohli deserves a trophy. He deserves to play in a team that could help him to get that trophy.

Pietersen cited examples of superstar footballers who have left clubs after serving them for a very long time in their careers.

He added,

I think it’s about time Virat Kohli thought long and hard. Beckham left, Ronaldo left, Messi left, Harry Kane just left Spurs and went to Bayern Munich.

What next for Virat Kohli?

The 35-year-old will be next seen in action for the Indian cricket team who are set to travel to the US to take part in the upcoming T20 World Cup.
