The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 could be moved out of Pakistan as India are reluctant to visit their neighbours, according to Dainik Jagran journalist Abhishek Tripathi.

According to the journalist, the Champions Trophy could either be moved out of Pakistan completely and conducted in UAE or ICC could follow ACC's 'hybrid model' of the Asia Cup 2023.

The journalist, on Monday, wrote on X,

Champions Trophy will not be held in Pakistan. Champions Trophy can be held in UAE or in hybrid model like Asia Cup. Unless there is a radical change in the policy of the Indian Government, it will be impossible for the Indian team to play in Pakistan.

What is the Asia Cup 2023 'Hybrid model'?

A similar arose during the Asia Cup 2023 which was originally supposed to be hosted entirely by Pakistan. But the BCCI later communicated the Indian government's stance of not allowing the Indian player to travel to their neighbouring country.

After a lot of discussions, ACC finally came to a conclusion and that was to host the tournament in a 'hybrid model' where Pakistan and Sri Lanka jointly hosted the competition.

While all other teams visited Pakistan for at least one game during the course of the tournament, India played all their matches in Sri Lanka including the final. Had Pakistan qualified for the final, they would have had to travel to Sri Lanka to face the Men in Blue.

Why won't India travel to Pakistan?

Due to tense geo-political relations between India and Pakistan, Indian players are not allowed to visit Pakistan by their nation's government.
