The build-up for the next Indian Premier League (IPL) season has already begun. The franchises have started their preparations ahead of the upcoming mega auction for the IPL 2025 season.

The mega auction would provide a chance for some franchises to lure the best players from their competitors.

And as things stand, the one player who has been garnering attention in the lead up to the auction is Rohit Sharma whose future is up in the air.

And, as per reports, two franchises who are yet to win the IPL, are ready to place a huge bet on one of the league's most-successful captains ever.

Delhi Capitals and Lucknow Super Giants, two IPL franchises who have been trophy-less in the tournament's history so far, are ready to go all-in for Rohit Sharma in the mega auction, as per RevSportz

Which teams are eyeing Rohit Sharma ahead of IPL 2025?

The report states that apart from his current team Mumbai Indians, two other teams are in the race to pursue Rohit Sharma ahead of the IPL 2025 auction.

Journalist Rohit Juglan from RevSportz stated that the two franchises have set aside a monetary target totaling to about INR 50 Crores to acquire the services of the player. The sum would be used for auction costs depending on the type of the deal which the Indian captain accepts.

They will need to get a confirmation from Rohit Sharma, to go ahead with the deal. Rohit has a big call to make, as his market value and brand value ahead of the 2025 mega auction has sky-rocketed, especially after the 2024 T20 World Cup win.

Will Rohit Sharma be retained by Mumbai Indians?

Rohit Sharma's stint at Mumbai Indians (MI) could likely be over already. The 36-year-old was sacked from his captaincy role by the MI management before the start of last season. There are also rumours that Rohit will explore all his options ahead of IPL 2025.

As per media outlet RevSportz, MI's case of retaining Rohit is likely to be a complicated one. And with captaincy already given to Hardik, Rohit would not want to play for MI.
