Former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) batsman Ambati Rayudu believes that CSK fans are MS Dhoni fans before they are the fans of the team.

Dhoni is a larger-than-life character in the eyes of the CSK fans, who treat him no less than a demigod. Even at the age of 42, Dhoni draws the awe of the crowd with the same inimitable aura.

Especially since his retirement, the crowd erupts into a vociferous pandemonium of emotions and go absolutely berserk at the sight of their icon, their legend, the man who led the CSK franchise to five Indian Premier League (IPL) titles.

Rayudu, though, believes that the fans forget to get behind the other players in the process, indicating that they are CSK fans only because of Dhoni and not the other way round.

What did Ambati Rayudu say about the treatment CSK fans shower MS Dhoni with?

Speaking on Star Sports, former Mumbai Indians and CSK batsman Rayudu shared his opinions on the fandom surrounding Dhoni and how it affected the other players playing for the Men in Yellow.

Even when you hit a six and a four the crowd is silent, me and Jadeja felt that in the last few years. I really believe when I say this, that CSK fans are MS Dhoni fans first, and CSK fans later. Even Jadeja gets frustrated, but he cannot do anything.
