The Mumbai Indians star was appointed as the captain of the Indian team in white-ball cricket in 2021 after Virat Kohli left the role after the debacle in the T20 World Cup in UAE. A few months later, Sharma was handed over the red-ball captaincy as well.
The Indian skipper has now opened up about his thought process after being named the captain of the Indian cricket team.

'Not about personal milestones' - Rohit Sharma
Sharma spoke at length about his goals and targets after taking over the captaincy of the Indian team from Virat Kohli three years ago.
The star batter claimed that he had outlined a plan for the entire squad and not for individuals and his ultimate goal was to win a World.
He came close to winning three ICC trophies during his stint. Under his leadership, India reached the semi-final of the 2022 T20 World Cup and reached the finals of the ICC Test Championship 2021-23 and ICC ODI World Cup 2023 which was held in India.
Speaking to Dubai Eye 103.8, the 37-year-old said,
When I took over as an India Captain, I just wanted everyone to drive in one direction, it's not about personal milestones, personal stats and goals, it is about what all 11 of us can bring to the table & win the trophy.
India will once again compete in the T20 World Cup as Sharma and Co travel to the US and West Indies next month to take part in the T20 World Cup 2024.
