By winning the T20 World Cup 2024 in June, Rohit had cemented himself an important place in Indian cricket's history as he led India to its first ICC title victory in over a decade.

Moreover, it was only India's second T20 World Cup title, after the country won its first in the inaugural 2007 edition, under the captaincy of MS Dhoni.

Recently, at the CEAT Cricket Rating Awards held on Wednesday, August 21, in Mumbai, Rohit had won the CEAT Men's International Cricketer of the Year award.

What did captain Rohit Sharma say about India's potential chances in upcoming ICC tournaments?

With India having tasted success with their win at the T20 World Cup 2024, India captain Rohit Sharma has now turned his focus to the upcoming ICC tournaments, where he hopes to lead his team to victory.

He admitted that there is a lot of hunger to add more trophies to his cabinet as captain, mentioning about his relentless chase as Mumbai Indian skipper in the Indian Premier League (IPL), where he won five titles.

"There is a reason I won five IPL trophies. I'm not going to stop, because once you get the taste of winning games, winning Cups, you don't want to stop, and we'll keep pushing as a team. We'll keep striving for better things in the future," he said at the CEAT awards.

While India started their preparations for the Champions Trophy in a disappointing manner, following their 0-2 loss in the ODI series against Sri Lanka, the Indian skipper remained optimistic.

Additionally, he credited BCCI secretary Jay Shah, former India head coach Rahul Dravid, and chief selector Ajit Agarkar, for helping him transform the team, to the path of success, by calling them his "three pillars".

"It was my dream to transform this team and not worry too much about the stats, the results, to make sure that we create that environment where people can go out there and play freely without thinking too much," Rohit said

"That is what was required. I got a lot of help from my three pillars, who are actually Mr Jay Shah, Mr Rahul Dravid and the chairman of selectors Ajit Agarkar. That was very critical for me to do what I did and obviously not to forget the players, who came in at different points in time and helped the team to achieve what we achieved," he added.

The Indian team will begin a hectic Test cricket season, starting with the two-match Test series against Bangladesh, starting September 19, followed by a home and away series against New Zealand, and Australia, respectively.

"We've got a couple of solid tours coming up, very challenging ones as well. For us, it never stops. Once you achieve something you always look forward to achieving more. That is what I will be doing. I’m pretty sure my teammates will be thinking on the same line. What I've seen in the last two years in Indian cricket, there's some real excitement, some real good cricket is being played," he concluded.
