Tendulkar, who retired from ODI cricket in 2012, has played 463 One Day matches for the country, with Sri Lanka's Mahela Jayawardene playing 448 matches.

With the increase in competition among cricketers and the rise of T20 cricket, the chances of modern players overtaking this record of players from yesteryear is highly unlikely.
Apart from Tendulkar, none of the Indian players have played over 350 ODIs for the country.
