Max Verstappen will look to get back to winning ways at the 2023 Australian Grand Prix after his qualifying nightmare last time out in Saudi Arabia.

Despite him recovering to finish P2 from P15 on the grid — behind teammate Sergio Perez — the Dutchman will be hoping for an even better weekend when the action gets underway in Melbourne.

Perez will be desperate to take the chequered flag again though, as too will Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso who has twice finished P3 so far this season.

Ahead of the action getting underway, The Sporting News dives through all of the odds to give you the best bets and tips for the upcoming 2023 Australian Grand Prix.

F1 Australian Grand Prix 2023 odds to win

Just like on the first two race days of the season, Max Verstappen is the heavy favourite for this next race in Melbourne, just ahead of Red Bull teammate Sergio Perez.

The pair are followed by Spanish veteran Fernando Alonso who the bookmakers currently favour ahead of the rest of the pack with Charles Leclerc, Lewis Hamilton, Carlos Sainz and George Russell all following quite a distant back.

Odds via BetMGM (USA), Sports Interaction (Canada), SkyBet (UK), Neds (Australia) and Dafabet (India). Odds correct as of March 29.

F1 Australian Grand Prix 2023: Best bet

  • Pick: Max Verstappen to win, Perez to come P2
  • Odds: 5/4 (SkyBet)

Such is Red Bull's dominance so far this season, this boosted bet with SkyBet seems very good value at 5/4 for Verstappen to win the 2023 Australian Grand Prix and Perez to finish P2.

With the pair sharing P1 and P2 once apiece so far this season, the grumbles up and down the paddock highlight just how far ahead of their competitors the Austrian team are at this moment in time.

As such, the only thing other than a DNF finish for either that could ruin this bet is if the order ends up finishing the other way around.

Verstappen holds much higher pedigree than his teammate at present though, so we're expecting this bet to come in on Sunday.

F1 Australian Grand Prix 2023: Prop bet

  • Pick: Over 16 cars to finish the race
  • Odds: -175 (BetMGM)

Given that Formula One in 2023 is a more reliable sport than in recent years in terms of car performance, we feel backing over 16 cars to finish the race could be a nice little earner this weekend.

The 2022 Australian Grand Prix — which Leclerc won for Ferrari — saw three cars fail to finish the race, the same number as the prior two races in Melbourne.

Add to that the fact that both races so far this season have seen this bet come in and we feel that it should again here.

F1 Australian Grand Prix 2023: Flier bet

  • Pick: Alex Albon to score points
  • Odds: 5/2 (SkyBet)

Despite failing to finish the last race due to a car fault, Williams have surprised a fair few pundits and competitors this season with their impressive midfield pace.

As such, we're taking a punt on Alex Albon to react to his DNF with a points finish in Melbourne. That's something he managed last season at the Australian Grand Prix with Williams when he finished P10, whilst he also finished the first race of this season in Bahrain in P10.
