The MotoGP racing season returned in March 2024, and two races into 21 overall this year, defending champion Francesco Bagnaia is already under pressure to defend his back-to-back world titles from last year's runner-up Jorge Martin.

Qatar's Lusail International Circuit was the venue for the season's opening race, a season which sees MotoGP make its debut in Kazakhstan and return to Aragon in Spain, after both planned meetings were cancelled in 2023.

After winning the opening race in Qatar by a whisker on March 10, Bagnaia was well off the pace in Portugal two weeks later, failing to make the podium as Martin and Enea Bastianini secured a one-two placing for Ducati, setting up the third race of the season with just a few points separating the top three riders.

With 21 races and 22 drivers giving their all to wrestle control of the World Riders' Championship away from Bagnaia, anticipation is sky-high for the remainder of the 2024 MotoGP season. To keep tabs on all the action throughout the year, The Sporting News has you covered.

Is there a MotoGP race on today?

Not today! In between the Portuguese Grand Prix and the next race, the Grand Prix of the Americas, there's a three-week break. Don't worry though, this is the longest time between individual races all season, and is only occurring due to the cancellation of the Gran Premio de la Republica Argentina which was initially slated to run on Sunday, April 7.

The Grand Prix of the Americas is currently the only US-based meeting on the MotoGP calendar, and replaced the Indianapolis Grand Prix in Indiana after the latter ceased in 2015. Taking place at the aptly-named Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas, the 2023 meeting was won by Alex Rins.

When is the next MotoGP 2024 race?

The Argentine Grand Prix in Rio Hondo had been pencilled in to be this season's next race on Sunday, April 7, but has been cancelled, meaning the campaign will now head to the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas, for the Grand Prix of the Americas.

The weekend's action gets underway with practice sessions on Friday, April 12, and after qualifying the following day, the race proper starts on Sunday, April 14, with a full list of timings set to be released.

Here's how to watch the race across selected areas of the world's major regions:
