Zach Edey was perhaps the most polarizing player in the 2024 NBA Draft not named Bronny James.

The Purdue big man’s dominance in college, paired with his height and size, made scouts wonder if he could approach that level of production in the NBA.

The Grizzlies selected the 7-4, 300-pound center at No. 9 in what some believed to be a reach, but he's impressed thus far in limited time against Summer League competition in Las Vegas.

The 22-year-old rookie has missed some time already, but will he be out for an extended period after his recent injury against the Pelicans?

Here's the latest on Edey's injury status.

Edey twisted his ankle after landing on one of the New Orleans player's foot. He went down to the ground and immediately went to the locker room.

The incident occurred in the second quarter, and Edey was ruled out for the remainder of the game.

He returned to the bench in the second half with his ankle wrapped in ice.

Edey dealt with an ankle injury earlier in his Summer League campaign, limiting him to just one game prior to Thursday's contest. He missed the Grizzlies' previous five games before returning on July 18.

The most recent ankle injury is not a re-aggravation of the original. Edey injured his left ankle in his Summer League debut and injured his right ankle in the most recent game.
