The Miami Dolphins have high expectations in Mike McDaniel's second season, and those expectations have been helped along by 2023 third-round pick De'Von Achane.
The running back, whose calling card is his 4.32 speed, has made waves in training camp alongside presumed starter Raheem Mostert and injured spell Jeff Wilson Jr., who was acquired last year from the 49ers via trade and is battling a hand injury.
Achane was carted off during the Dolphins' second preseason game against the Texans Saturday after being slammed to the ground onto his shoulder following a long run.

Achane rushed for 1,102 yards last season with Texas A&M and caught 36 passes for 196 yards. He has become a fantasy sleeper for the Dolphins, and has received some praise for his pass protection.
What is De'Von Achane's injury?
Achane appears to have suffered a shoulder injury after being slammed onto his side against the Texans.

He was carted to the locker room following the injury.
After the game, McDaniel confirmed it was a shoulder injury but did not expound upon what the severity could be, per Adam Schefter.

Achane's injury could be a variety of things. The Dolphins carted him to the locker room after his injury and will undoubtedly be running tests to determine the severity of his injury.

The Dolphins have several options at running back, but Achane is emerging as someone who could get a considerable share of the carries pie.
Mostert is the incumbent starter, with Wilson sitting as the 1A. Behind them, Achane, Myles Gaskin, and Salvon Ahmed are fighting for spots.
