The Browns will be without their top running back for the foreseeable future.

“Nick’s got a very significant knee injury,” Browns coach Kevin Stefanski said. “You feel for the person. He’s a great football player as we know, but he’s an even better person. we will support him every step of the way.”

Stefanski declined to detail Chubb's injury pending an MRI, which is expected to confirm the extent of the damage to his knee.

Is Nick Chubb out for the season?

Head coach Kevin Stefanski confirmed Chubb is out for the 2023 season during his postgame news conference.

What happened to Nick Chubb?

Chubb suffered a gruesome knee injury on "Monday Night Football" vs. the Steelers in Week 2. On a rushing attempt near the Pittsburgh goal line, Chubb's leg seems to have gotten trapped underneath him on a tackle, when Steelers safety Minkah Fitzpatrick delivered a low tackle to Chubb's knee.

Browns teammates attempted to help Chubb to his feet, but the running back seemed to know the severity of the injury and stayed down on the turf. A cart would later take Chubb to the locker room following the injury.

Chubb was almost immediately ruled out with a knee injury.

The ESPN broadcast would not show a replay of the injury because of its graphic nature. The big screen in Pittsburgh did show the replay of the injury, and fans in attendance would loudly grown.

In 2015, Chubb suffered a similar injury to the same knee, casting doubt on his viability as an NFL running back. Suffice to say, he overcame that.
